NF-κB inhibition→cytokine storm attenuation in sepsis
Atorvastatin's pleiotropic immunomodulatory effects, including NF-κB inhibition and endothelial protection, may attenuate the cytokine storm and immune dysregulation in sepsis; a 2024 paper specifically addresses its effects on sepsis-related inflammation. This represents a novel repurposing opportunity with preclinical and early clinical evidence.
