Anti-inflammatory→pulmonary vascular remodeling suppression
Atorvastatin may suppress pulmonary vascular remodeling in COPD through anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative effects on vascular smooth muscle cells, reducing pulmonary hypertension progression; a preclinical rat study provides mechanistic support. This is not an approved indication and represents a novel repurposing opportunity.
